Suvarnabhumi Airport

Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport is the foremost entry point for nearly all visitors to Thailand. The airport is located about 15 km of on the east-bound Bangna Trat Highway in Amphoe Bang Phli, Samut Prakarn Province and is located about 30km east of downtown Bangkok. Suvarnabhumi, pronounced "soo-wan-na-poom", was named by King Bhumibol Adulyadej and means 'a Golden Land' and started operations on the 28th September 2006.

Suvarnabhumi has one very huge passenger terminal which is the second largest in the world. The airport is used by a large number of the world’s major airlines including as well as all British Airways, Bangkok Airways, Air Canada, Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa, Air France, Japan Airlines, Continental, Air Asia, SGA Airline, Qantas, United Airlines, PBair and Thai Airways domestic flights with three-digit flight numbers.

Passenger will find all services expected of a major international airport: luggage storage, money exchange, ATMs (with Cirrus/Maestro, Visa, Mastercard, Plus and others), phone-rental booths, TAT booths, internet service also a transit hotel, Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel. Note that there is NO ATM machines away from immigration checkpoint. Other services at the airport includes restaurants, bars, massage services, post office, duty free shopping stores, and more

Getting downtown is cheap, there is a lot of options either: air-conditioned minibus, taxi, private limousines, even helicopters are available. The Airport Express service is a convenient and economical choice, with regular departures from 5 am to midnight.
