Thailand is probably one of the most exotic countries from a Western point of view, and receive more visitors than any other Asian country. With amazing landscapes, an original cuisine, ancient monuments and a well-know hospitality, Thailand gathers a mix of elements that make it one of the most pleasant destinations to visit.

Probably the best time to visit Thailand is from November to February, because the weather is kind and the beaches can be better enjoyed. At this period you will also find the most important national and regional festivals in the country. It's better to avoid the rainy season, between July and November, because Thailand's monsoons arrive bringing an umconfortable weather.

Bangkok is Thailand's capital and also its biggest city, with a population of over 9 million people. It is experiencing an impressive economic growth, becoming an important regional leader like Hong Kong or Singapore. The easiest way to travel around Thailand is choose from the several cheap flights to Bangkok you can find in Internet and then go to the other Thai cities.

You can move around most parts of Thailand safely, by following common sense attitudes like being discreet with money and electronics, staying around the most touristic areas and saving a copy of your passport and cards in a safe place. However, be aware that there are conflicts in the southern provinces of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and Songkhla from 2006. Get informed about these issues at the Thailand's Embassy in your country before you go.
